The diverse attractions of the city, coupled with beautiful scenery and world-class cultural and sporting facilities, make Innsbruck - the Capital of the Alps - and the entire region a unequaled destination. Innsbruck - the Capital of the Alps - hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976 and has ever since been an important sports center. Tirol’s capital has been an important venue for trade shows since 1893, when Hall 2 of the World Exhibition in Prague was moved to Innsbruck.

The trade fair complex has a total exhibition surface of 40,000 sq meters and comprises 10 modern halls, a press center and two restaurants. The complex has been hosting a whole gamut of events including economic trade fairs, company and product presentations, art exhibitions and social events of all kinds. The complex is within walking distance of Innsbruck’s historic old town with its world-famous sights and attractions. Innsbruck has some 1.6 million overnight visitors and 5 million day guests per year. Many trade fair visitors have been returning to Tirol’s capital as tourists.

In June 2004 Congress Innsbruck and Innsbrucker Messen joined forces to form the Congress und Messe Innsbruck GmbH, thus creating new synergies to enhance Innsbruck’s importance as trade show venue.

Reconstruction of the Messe Innsbruck trade fair complex will start in autumn 2006 without disturbing any ongoing shows and events. The new multi-functional exhibition and event center will firmly position Innsbruck on the world’s map as top-modern trade show location.

Messe Innsbruck serves as top location for all kinds of exhibitions and events for up to 1000 guests.
